Da Vinci Decathlon

What is the Da Vinci Decathlon?

The Da Vinci Decathlon is an academic competition designed to challenge and stimulate the minds of school students.

Students compete in teams of eight across 10 disciplines: engineering, mathematics, and chess, code breaking, art and poetry, science, English, ideation, creative producers, cartography, and legacy.

Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) was one of the world’s greatest thinkers and scholars. da Vinci demonstrated an ability to perceive the interconnected nature of knowledge and embraced learning with a lifelong passion and determination to uncover the unknown. The Decathlon competition places a particular emphasis on higher order thinking skills, problem solving, and creativity.

The students had to be Effective Communicators, Collaborators and be Creative and Innovative as well as work out some extremely complicated scenarios. Thank you to Miss Hoff, Mrs Kinner, Mr Blair, Mrs Haywood for assisting the team.

Our team was among 52 teams of Year 5- and 6-year groups from all over Queensland.
The students worked extremely diligently, collaboratively and communicated effectively amongst each other. The theme this year was “Utopia” and all the papers were based on this aspect.
