History of LORDS

Lutheran Ormeau Rivers District School is known as LORDS. It is part of the Ormeau Lutheran Project which is a development of the Lutheran Church of Australia, Queensland District. Our school was founded in 2012.

It comprises a kindergarten and educational facilities for Prep to Year 12 on a single,  nearly 20 hectare site which includes eight hectares of natural bushland. The essential facet for the foundation on which our project is established is the love of God through his son Jesus Christ. May everything we plan and implement reflect this great love of God and His many blessings.

As the youngest Lutheran school in Queensland, we join a quality network of more than 80 schools and colleges throughout Australia. We place our endeavour on their reputation of Christian caring and Christ-centred education. The history and heritage of Lutheran Schools are as long as that of the church. The Lutheran Church is a mainstream Christian denomination and is one of the world’s largest and oldest protestant churches. Central to Lutheran understanding is the truth of the Bible that we are saved from sin by God’s grace through Jesus Christ. Martin Luther emphasized the importance of education, stressing that God works through every aspect of life.

The Lutheran Church has been active in this area for more than 135 years gaining the respect of the local community and it is our desire to continue to maintain a positive presence in which to enjoy that support and confidence. This school is supported by the local congregations of St Peter’s Alberton and Bethlehem Woongoolba. We uphold the teachings and values of the Lutheran Church and provide an education of quality in which all activities and relationships are shaped and formed by the gospel of Jesus Christ.

We acknowledge and pay respect to the traditional people of the Yugambeh region of South East Queensland and their Elders past, present and emerging, and the land on which we work and learn.

And in 2023, we are 11 years old and a growing and thriving K to 12 school with over 700 students.
