DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT
At its core, LORDS focuses on the Lutheran Education Australia values for Lutheran Schools: Love, justice, compassion, forgiveness, courage, humility, hope, quality, appreciation, and service. One of the LORDS Ways is Ways of Being- I can be of service, I can be responsible, I can be empathetic.
Service- Learning allows us to live, learn and ‘be’ together in community…bringing our vision and values to life.
Our sense of vocation and servant-hood shapes who we are, and in our schools shapes our learning. Service is not an option – it is a given and is one of our most enduring life-long qualities. A culture of serving one another is part of a Lutheran School ethos. If you combine service with a strong emphasis on learning – where service and learning work together hand in hand, then you have something that is quite powerful – where our students and members of the community can explore the answer to the following questions ‘What does the world need and what gifts and talents do I have to meet that need? An opportunity to live the gospel by answering the call, who is my neighbour? Anyone in need.'
We give thanks to God for the opportunity to serve our community in many and varied ways.
- This year we will be praying for families in our community and their needs: Classen, Cluss, Cochrane, Cognet, Cole, Coleman
- For the students and staff completing exams and assessments
- For open hearts and minds to serve people in our homes, school, and wider community
- Give thanks for people who make time for others
