DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT
The Heart of Service
In the past weeks, we have witnessed the strength of community in the face of challenge. The recent cyclone may have shaken trees and flooded streets, but it could not shake the spirit of service and care that binds us together. At LORDS, our Ways of Being call us to live with compassion, responsibility, and service. We have seen this lived out in the way people have checked in on neighbours, shared resources, and supported one another in big and small ways. Service is not just about grand gestures — it’s about showing up, offering what we can, and reminding others that they are not alone.
Jesus reminds us in Galatians 6:2, “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” When we serve, we reflect His love, bringing hope and strength to those around us.
As we continue to rebuild and move forward, may we hold onto the spirit of service—not just in times of crisis, but in our everyday interactions. A kind word, a helping hand, or a moment of understanding can make all the difference.
May we be a community that lifts each other up, walks alongside those in need, and serves with hearts full of love.
Prayer:
Dear God,
Thank You for the gift of community.
Help us to see the needs around us and respond with kindness and service.
Give us strength to support one another and love that reflects Your heart.
May we continue to be a light in the lives of those around us.
Amen.
